The Report draws on lessons learnt from recent supervisory cases across the EU and highlights how competent authorities can strengthen their approaches to supervision in this fast-evolving sector.

Today, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published a Report that takes stock of the actions taken by all competent authorities to address the EBA’s findings and recommendations. This follows in - depth reviews carried out by the EBA of all 40 competent authorities approaches to tackling money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) risks in banks in all EU/ EEA Member States over the last 6 years, issuing recommendations when necessary to improve the effectiveness of anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing (AML/CFT) supervision.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a public consultation on four draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) that will be part of the EBA’s response to the European Commission’s Call for Advice. These technical standards will be central to the EU’s new AML/CFT regime and will shape how institutions and supervisors will comply with their AML/CFT obligations under the new AML/CFT package. The consultation runs until 6 June 2025.
