EBA identifies key supervisory areas as part of the European Supervisory Examination Programme for 2025
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published the European Supervisory Examination Programme (ESEP) for 2025, which identifies key topics for heightened supervisory attention across the European Union. The ESEP is aimed at driving supervisory convergence by providing competent authorities with a single set of priorities for implementation in 2025.

The EBA publishes key regulatory products on operational risk losses under the EU Banking Package implementation
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published three final draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) that provide a taxonomy for operational risk losses and offer clarity on the exemptions for the calculation of the annual operational risk loss and on the adjustments to the loss data set that banks must perform when merging or acquiring entities or activities.

The EBA consults on revised Guidelines on supervisory review and evaluation process and supervisory stress testing
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today launched a public consultation on its revised Guidelines on common procedures and methodologies for the supervisory review and evaluation process (SREP) and supervisory stress testing. The revision forms are part of the EBA’s ongoing efforts to simplify and enhance the efficiency of the EU supervisory framework, while supporting a risk-focused and effective supervision.
The EBA publishes its 2026 Work Programme and takes action for a more efficient regulatory and supervisory framework in the EU
The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today its Work Programme outlining the key priorities and initiatives for 2026. Besides focusing on three key priorities, the EBA’s work will aim at strengthening the simplicity and efficiency of the regulatory and supervisory framework for banks and financial entities in the EU, in close cooperation with the relevant EU and non-EU stakeholders. In this respect, the EBA launched a comprehensive assessment of the framework, and decided to engage in 21 actions to enhance its efficiency. The 2026 Work Programme includes specific actions for next year for each of the four areas under review. The EBA will report on a regular basis on the implementation of all the recommendations.

Strong capital and profitability in EU/EEA banks in a context of increased geopolitical uncertainty and operational threats
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today released its Autumn 2025 risk assessment Report (RAR), confirming that EU/EEA banks remain strong in capital, liquidity, profitability and asset quality. However, the EBA calls for continued vigilance as geopolitical uncertainty, market volatility and increasing operational risks persist. The Report is published alongside the 2025 EU-wide transparency exercise, providing detailed and comparable data for 119 banks across 25 countries of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), and is supplemented by the Autumn 2025 Risk Assessment Questionnaire (RAQ).
The EBA releases the final technical package for its 4.2 reporting framework to ensure compliance with EU regulatory reporting obligations and to conclude the transition to DPM 2.0
The European Banking Authority (EBA) today published the final technical package for version 4.2 of its reporting framework, marking a major step in the implementation of the DPM 2.0 semantic glossary and the modernisation of supervisory reporting across the EU. The final package will be applicable from December 2025.
