US Secretary of the Treasury John Snow visits CEBS

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) was honoured to welcome today US Secretary of the Treasury John Snow to discuss the work of CEBS at its headquarters in London.

The visit reflects increasing awareness of the progress made in the EU in the field of financial services. The visit offered CEBS an opportunity to explain its role and tasks in the European financial framework.

Mr José María Roldán, Chairman of CEBS noted:
"This visit provides a unique opportunity for CEBS as a fairly young committee to present its work to the US Treasury and extend its relations with the US authorities. It is important that we develop close relations and co-operation in the field of banking regulation as financial markets are becoming more and more integrated not only in Europe but globally."
