ALMM - C 70.00 : Report of weekends in template C70
- Question
-
Should entities leave empty weekends and holidays in column ‘Overnight’ even when they have information on current accounts for those days?
- Background on the question
-
It is stated in part 1.5, paragraph 12 of Annex XIX:
“For months with less than 31 days as well as for weekends, irrelevant lines shall be left empty”.
QA 2019_4581 specifies that current accounts shall be reported in column ‘Overnight’:
“…Where liabilities are contractually withdrawable on each day (e.g., current accounts), they shall be reported as if being maturing overnight, i.e., to be reported in the column ‘Maturing’ under the parent category ‘Overnight’.”
Moreover, Q&A 2018_3689 states:
“According to Annex XIX under section 1.5 paragraph 12, for months with less than 31 days as well as for weekends, irrelevant lines in C 70.00 shall be left empty, as in such days institutions are non-operational (or they do not exist in case of months with less than 31 days). Accordingly, holidays and – more in general – non-operational days should follow the same approach."
Some entities are asking for guidance on this approach because nowadays, for current accounts, weekends are, in practice, operational days.
In this sense, our understanding is that in column ‘Overnight’, rows corresponding to weekends should be reported provided that as they are operational days for the entities, since operations are made on those days. This approach could apply also for the rest of columns in template C70, provided that they are operational days for the entities.
