Question

Under LDP Counterparties list, multiple entities are mapped to the same LEI. What is the distinction between the two entities and how does this impact the way we report the exposures?

Background on the question

There are a handful of cases where two entities are mapping to the same LEI, examples below. Can we confirm what the distinction is between the two entities is, and if we should report the aggregate figures from both entities in each row or in just one of the two rows? Cases where two entities map to the same LEI:

  • 529900F3AIQECS8ZSV61: The two entity names listed under this LEI are: Umicore SA & UMICORE
  • 549300QSUNKAEBMYIR16: The two entity names listed under this LEI are: McBride plc & RAVAGO S.A.
  • PSNL19R2RXX5U3QWHI44: The two entity names listed under this LEI are: MEDIOBANCA SPA & Mediobanca SpA

Final answer

With regard to the duplication of counterparties in template C 101.00 of Annex I of the Draft ITS on Supervisory Reporting for Institutions for benchmarking the internal approaches (ITS on Supervisory Benchmarking) for the 2017-benchmarking exercise, the following shall apply:

529900F3AIQECS8ZSV61 / Umicore SA

Only the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘LC_0000144’ shall be reported; portfolio IDs beginning with ‘LC_0001692’ shall be disregarded.

549300QSUNKAEBMYIR16 / McBride plc and RAVAGO S.A.

The LEI 549300QSUNKAEBMYIR16 belongs to RAVAGO S.A. (established in Luxemburg, not Belgium as indicated in template C 101.00).

The correct LEI for McBride plc is 213800HX7FMPA2CIEF02.

Thus, both the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘LC_0000851’ (McBride plc, GB, LEI 213800HX7FMPA2CIEF02) and those having an ID beginning with ‘LC_0001642’ (RAVAGO S.A., LU, LEI 549300QSUNKAEBMYIR16) have to be reported.

PSNL19R2RXX5U3QWHI44 / MEDIOBANCA SPA

Only the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘IN_0001837’ shall be reported; portfolio IDs beginning with ‘LC_0001037’ shall be disregarded.

Apart from cases of duplication of LEIs, the following duplications of ISINs or Bloomberg Tickers are known:

ISIN code NL0010672325 / Koninklijke Ahold NV [Royal Ahold NV]

Only the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘LC_0001181’ shall be reported; portfolio IDs beginning with ‘LC_0001141’ shall be disregarded.

ISIN code NL0009432491 / Koninklijke Vopak NV

Only the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘LC_0001187’ shall be reported; portfolio IDs beginning with ‘LC_0001233’ shall be disregarded.

Bloomberg Ticker 6152Z LN Equity / UK and US

Both the portfolios the ID of which begins with ‘GG_0001766’ (UK, Bloomberg Ticker 6152Z LN Equity) and those the ID of which begins with ‘GG_0001768’ (US, correct Bloomberg Ticker 3352Z US Equity) shall be reported.
