EBA job application process

Below we have set out the three different stages of a job application process for the EBA.

Publication of vacancies

EBA vacancies are all published under the careers section on its website, which also contains information about traineeships.

Each vacancy is advertised with a vacancy notice and eligibility criteria grid, which outline the duties involved, the minimum requirements needed and provide information regarding dates and conditions of employment.

Submission of applications

All positions are open to nationals of the 28 EU Member States, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements for the advertised position.

For most expert positions, these requirements include completion of university studies attested by a diploma, knowledge of at least two EU languages and professional experience in banking and/or related sectors. Candidates need to submit applications electronically, with a full CV in the "Europass format" and a motivation letter, within the stated deadlines.

The selection

For each vacancy, the EBA appoints a selection panel to assess applications and shortlist eligible candidates. Shortlisted candidates are invited at the EBA premises to attend an interview and sit a written test.

Both are held in English and related to the specific post and designed to test further the candidates' professional knowledge, competencies and motivation. Successful candidates are listed in order of merit. Those who obtain the best score will be offered the post and those with high scores will be placed on reserve lists.

Inclusion in the reserve list does not guarantee a job offer, but it means that candidates may be contacted in case the specific post becomes vacant or other related vacancies become available.
