Risk analysis

EU-wide stress testing

One of the responsibilities of the EBA is to ensure the orderly functioning and integrity of financial markets and the stability of the financial system in the EU. To this end, we are mandated to monitor and assess market developments and identify trends, potential risks and vulnerabilities stemming from the micro-prudential level.

EU-wide transparency exercise

The transparency exercise is part of the EBA's ongoing efforts to foster transparency and market discipline in the EU financial market. This exercise complements banks' own Pillar 3 disclosures, as laid down in the EU's capital requirements directive (CRD).

Risk monitoring

The EBA provides risk monitoring through a range of tools including Risk Assessment Reports, Joint Committee Risk Assessments Reports, as well as Risk and MREL Dashboards. These tools all serve the purpose of identifying and monitoring the risks and vulnerabilities that may be present in the EU banking sector.

Thematic analysis

The EBA publishes annual reports on asset encumbrance and funding plans as well as ad hoc thematic reports covering specific topics that are of general interest as part of the overall risk assessment of the EU banking sector.
