Chairperson

The European Banking Authority (EBA) is represented by the Chairperson who is responsible for preparing the work of the Board of Supervisors and chairs its meetings as well as those of the Management Board. The Chaiperson’s term of office is five years and it may be extended once.

The inaugural Chairperson of the EBA is Andrea Enria. He was selected by the EBA Board of Supervisors on 12 January, 2011 from a shortlist of candidates drawn up by the European Commission and eventually confirmed by the European Parliament on 3 February, 2011, following a public hearing held at the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) on 1 February.

Andrea Enria took up office on 1 March, 2011.
